New Release: Steam - Perfumer H

There’s a new launch from one of my favourite fragrance houses, and I can’t wait to get my nose on it.

Perfumer H has just announced STEAM, an Eau de Parfum they describe as an “olfactory awakening” built around a steamy, humid, green-fruit accord. It sounds like exactly the kind of thoughtful, unusual scent I’ve come to love from this house; refined, delicate and full of intrigue.

According to Perfumer H, the key note of Steam is plum adding that the fruit was challenging to bring in naturally, and it comes through against a burst of grapefruit, coriander, bergamot, lemon, and mandarin. That combo already has my attention. It sounds fresh, zingy, and far from basic.

What really made me perk up is the mention of a “green, humid note” layered with violet and white magnolia, materials the perfumer apparently hasn’t worked with before. There’s also green reseda (not something I see mentioned often), which they says adds the “steamy undertone” that inspired the name.

To round it out, they’ve blended in green maté from Brazil, which brings a vegetal, almost tea-like depth, along with a beautiful smoky birch, sandalwood and cedar accord; all notes I adore.

It’s being described as a scent that “balances fruit, sheer white steam, and smoky woods” bright and mysterious, in their words. And honestly, that contrast is what Perfumer H does so well. I already suspect this one will land firmly in my full-bottle wishlist. I’ll be getting some to review as soon as I can get my grubby mitts on it.

If you’ve tried it already, let me know, I’m dying to hear what others make of it.
