Fugazzi: Purple

Today I smell like Parma violets and I couldn’t be happier about it. Purple by Fugazzi is a limited-edition release created for London’s Liberty department store’s 150th anniversary, and it’s a celebration in scent form. Violet can be tricky, too powdery and it feels dated, too sweet and it slips into novelty. But here, it’s done with a light hand and a modern twist. Airy, clean, and quietly magnetic.

Projection:

Soft to moderate.

It won’t fill a room, but it creates a lovely halo around the skin, noticeable, but never overbearing.

Longevity:

Around 5–6 hours.

It doesn’t roar, but it lingers in a gentle, persistent way.

The Scent

The opening is unmistakably violet-forward; sweet but not cloying, floral but not powdery. There’s a candied quality, reminiscent of Parma violets, but dialled down and refined. It’s light, breezy, and surprisingly fresh.

As it settles, a soft amber begins to show through, giving the scent warmth and structure without weighing it down. A hint of spice flickers at the edges; delicate, barely-there, but enough to keep things interesting. Throughout, the violet remains the star: clear, cool, and well-balanced. It’s not a shapeshifter of a scent, but that’s part of the charm. It is consistent, elegant, and undeniably “purple.”

The Notes

Top: Violet, citrus peel
Heart: Soft florals, white spice
Base: Amber, musk, light woods

Those who crave bold, high-projection perfumes may find Purple too quiet. It’s not a powerhouse or a complex transformer. It holds steady, stays soft, and hums rather than sings. If you're after drama, this may feel a little too delicate.

Who is this for?

Violet lovers, naturally but also anyone looking for a light, modern floral with personality. It’s a lovely entry point for those who’ve found classic violets too powdery or old-fashioned. Purple is a great daytime scent, especially in spring or early autumn. It could easily be someone’s signature if they want to smell floral, clean, and quietly playful.

Final Thoughts

Purple is a joyful little violet; sheer, fresh, and subtly sophisticated. It doesn’t try too hard, and it doesn’t need to. With its Liberty-exclusive flair and understated wearability, it feels like a scent made for lilac linen shirts, soft laughter, and days that end in violet light.

A fun, easy fragrance that still feels special.
