Kayali: Fleur Majesty Rose Royale 31

I really wanted to like this. Kayali has released some very likeable fragrances that punch well above their price point but regrettably Fleur Majesty Rose Royale 31 isn’t one of them.

The Scent

This is a rose and peony fragrance, with a supposed fruit-laced opening and a violet-musk base. What I got, though, was something that felt both too young and too old-fashioned, neither in a way that’s charming or intentional. The rose is loud, dominating, and veers into cloying territory fast. The peony, instead of bringing lightness or sparkle, muddies the blend even more. The violet is ever-present along and doesn’t mesh well with the other florals.

There’s a Turkish delight quality, but not the soft, chewy centre; more like the dry dusting on the outside. The fruit notes (peach and pear) are nearly imperceptible on my skin. I strained to find a juicy lift, all I got was a faint, powdery peach that never truly ripened. As for pear; if it’s there, it’s ghosting.

The Notes

Top: Pear, Peach & Mandarin Orange

Heart: Rose, Peony, Violet & Magnolia

Base: Musk, Vanilla, Praline, Ambroxin & Vetiver

The biggest issue? It doesn’t feel well blended. The opening is harsh, the projection is bigger than expected (and not in a good way), and it lingers long past its welcome. The dry down is marginally better, more muted, more musky, but the syrupy rose note still clings, refusing to let go.

Who is this for?

This one’s for lovers of classic-style florals who like their rose loud, sweet, and unmistakable. If you enjoy powdery textures and the kind of scent that announces itself before you enter the room, Fleur Majesty Rose Royale 31 might be for you. But if you prefer subtlety or more modern rose interpretations, you’ll likely find this overwhelming.

Final thoughts

This is definitely better suited for colder evenings, but even then, I’d struggle to reach for it. Sadly, Rose Royale 31 brings out everything I personally dislike about the rose–peony combo: loud and lacking nuance.

Not for me but if you're a die-hard rose (or Kayali) fan, it might still be worth a sniff. Just be prepared for it to shout, not whisper.
