Room 1015: Love-o-Matic
I didn’t think this one would be for me. Clean scents are rarely my thing and this one’s reputation preceded it. Love-o-matic opens with a blast of soapiness that had me ready to check out early. But as I was bracing for a detergent overdose, it settled into something far more interesting. What follows is a clean laundry vibe that’s airy, ozonic, and gently sweet. It’s simple storytelling, sure, but it’s done with charm.
The Scent
Think freshly washed sheets drying in sunlight, but with a little twist. The real magic, for me, is in the dry down: a soft, mood-lifting bubblegum note that hugs close to the skin. It’s not juvenile, though, it’s kitsch nostalgia, not candy floss at the school disco.
The bubblegum lingers without shouting, bolstered by those ozonic notes and a subtle musky warmth. I’ve seen dryer sheets mentioned as a comparison, and I can see why, there’s definitely that deep-dry-down clean comfort here. It’s oddly soothing. Intimate, even. Not a scent that projects wildly, but one that sticks around just for you.
The Notes
Top: Strawberry, Blackcurrant & Lemon
Heart: Ozonic notes & Bubble Gum
Base: Musk, Ambrette & Cedar
I liked this far more than I expected to. I wouldn’t have thought myself as a clean-scent convert, but here we are. If you’re a bubblegum note sceptic or usually avoid anything that smells like fresh linens, this one might surprise you too. It walks the line between quirky and comforting in a way that’s oddly addictive.
Who is this for?
Those who love their scents clean but not cold. If you like your freshness with a bit of cheek and just enough retro flair to keep things fun, this one’s worth a try. It’s for the nostalgic, the ironic, the comfort seekers.
