Kilian: Angel’s Share on the Rocks

The Liquors line from Kilian Paris has always leaned into indulgence, using fine spirits to influence fine scent. Latest addition Angel’s Share on the Rocks, something cooler, fresher. A lighter take on the boozy sweetness of the original Angel’s Share.

Now, before I get into this review I have to declare an interest. the OG Angel’s Share is one of my all time favourite scents. In my mind it is perfection; so I am especially critical of its flankers.

The Scent

This opens with an iced shimmer; aldehydes bring a fizz; like bubbles over ice then grapefruit slides in with a bitter zest. The familiar warmth of Angel’s Share is there in the background, but it is much softer, as if diluted. The dry down is smooth with a musk that is intimate and comfortable without weighing down the fragrance.

The Notes

Top: Aldehydes, Grapefruit
Heart: Cognac, Tonka Bean
Base: Musk, Woods, Amber

The opening is bright and sparkling, aldehydes giving that frosted “on ice” effect. Grapefruit keeps it crisp, never allowing the sweetness to dominate. As it moves into the heart, the cognac warmth appears. Subtle, restrained, reminding you this is still Angel’s Share. Finally, musk and woods anchor it, softening the sweetness and creating a more natural, wearable finish.

Who is this for?

If the original Angel’s Share felt too heavy or syrupy, On the Rocks is the fresher alternative. It’s for those who love boozy fragrances but want something that works in warmer weather, or for anyone drawn to muskier, skin-close scents with just enough sweetness to be interesting.

Final Thoughts

This is Angel’s Share stripped back and chilled. Based on the same DNA as the original, but more transparent, versatile, and musky. It may not replace the original’s drama, but as a lighter, cooler pour, it earns its place.

Star rating: ★★★★☆ (4/5)
