Granado: Citrus Brasilis

Citrus Brasilis from Granado makes a strong first impression; zesty, bright, and clean. It opens with a blast of lemon that’s sharp and insistent, backed by a cooling touch of mint and a sweep of jasmine that brings a more floral tilt to the composition. There’s a suggestion of bergamot in the mix too; though the official notes list orange, kumquat, and violet, I couldn’t catch much of those.

The Scent

This is a distrinctly summery scent. What is impressive is how long the citrus hangs around. Often bright top notes vanish swiftly, but here they linger well into the drydown, softening into a light musk and gentle floral hum. The sillage is solid; it projects with confidence and stays with you.

The Notes

Top: Mandarin Orange, Bergamot, Lemon

Heart: Jasmine, Kumquat, & Mint

Base: Musk, Violet Leaves, Patchouli

Unfortunately, to my nose, the combination of bitter lemon, mint, and jasmine brought to mind something more utilitarian than uplifting. I couldn’t quite shake the association with cleaning products. Fresh? Yes. Invigorating? Perhaps. Wearable? Not for me.

Think sunlight glinting off a just-mopped tile floor, invigorating but sterile.

Who is this for?

That said, I’m not calling this a bad perfume. It’s neat, cheery, and will certainly have fans. I can see Citrus Brasilis appealing to those who like their scents crisp, clean, and citrus-forward. For the right person I can imagine it evoking freshly pressed linen shirts on a summer morning.

Final thoughts

For me, though this leans a little too far into detergent territory and felt a bit cloying. A rare case where the technical performance outshines the experience.
